a weekly warm-up for marketing that attracts your best buyers

(featuring real stories, copy tips, and cat pics)

Welcome to 2025, Reader!

If you’re like me, transitioning back into routines after the holidays can feel a bit… bumpy.

I wrote this email in November because I know January-me well enough to know this is her vibe right now:

So this is a reminder to both *you and me* that January can bring a flood of excitement around how we want the year to go...

And don’t get me wrong, I have BIG plans for this year.

But the little promises we keep to ourselves each day are more helpful for getting there than dialing up the pressure right after a restful season.

One small thing I’m doing this month is getting back into my morning gym habit, because it:

  • Gets me up early (even if it’s cold and dark)
  • Helps me feel more prepared for the day
  • Gives me an excuse to pet the neighborhood cats
  • And best of all? It’s a big win before I even open my laptop.

What about you? What routine are you looking forward to getting back into this month?

Hit reply and let me know — I’d love to hear :)

Simple actions to fire up your marketing

If you have a high-ticket offer, don’t place the price at the top of the landing page. It should really be about ⅔ of the way down.

This isn’t about hiding it — it’s about showing empathy first. Acknowledge your audience’s challenges, then highlight the *value* your offer provides.

After they feel seen, and understand the unique way your solution helps, that’s when they’re ready to see the price. Share it too soon, and they might judge it prematurely, or leave before they see how they’d benefit.

Copy circuit 🔄

Analyzing copy from around the web

Vegetology almost doubled its opt-in form conversion rate to 13.8% partially by adding a “mystery discount” that changes each month.

This adds genuine urgency and makes visitors interested to see what discount they’ll get. Could you incorporate honest urgency like this into your marketing to increase newsletter sign ups?

Your 2-minute stretch break for better email marketing. Black Friday reminder: Get my support with marketing, copywriting, or business for the lowest price I've ever offered this week. Missed the details? Read 'em here. I owe you an explanation, Reader Because maybe you've wondered why I put desk stretches in a newsletter about email marketing? The truth is that without daily mobility practice, I wouldn’t be able to do this work. I have a rare, benign bone tumor that makes my right arm more...

Incoming Black Friday offers. I’m sending a couple extra emails this week about my Black Friday offers. If you don’t want those emails, click here to opt out. I’m surprised at myself this year. Because Black Friday usually has my nervous system like: (Side note: Superstore is an underrated gem of a show.) But this is also a great time to offer each other some actual relief. So, to my own surprise, I pulled together a few limited-time ways to get marketing support depending on what would help...

Your 2-minute stretch break for better email marketing. Hey Reader, Last Saturday, a chocolate croissant almost brought me to tears. Fresh out of the oven. Soft on the inside, crispy bite on the outside. Just enough warm chocolate to balance out the layers of pastry. I'm not normally a big food person, but this thing was so good I actually couldn't hold a conversation. It made me think about how many things we consume that are just... fine. The dry muffin you grab just to eat something. The...
